A Michigan engagement photographer capturing the love that is blooming—even if Spring isn’t.
Garden Engagement Photos
Dalia and Spencer wanted a very natural engagement session and their Michigan engagement photographer (aka ME) was so excited to make it happen. They wanted to feel relaxed and to have a gallery full of candids.
Capturing their authentic emotions made this Michigan engagement photographer feel honored (and at times a little sappy).
This was an early spring shoot, so not much was blooming. It didn’t even matter because between the golden light, the early spring daffodils, and these two’s outfits this session was packed with color.
Matthaei Botanical Gardens Ann Arbor
Mattaei Botanical Gardens Ann Arbor was a lovely backdrop for this session! We went at golden hour for that gorgeous golden light.
We made our way across the gardens capturing laughs and kisses and that exciting engaged feeling. I really wanted to focus on movement with this session. Nothing too stiff or posed. I had Spencer and Dalia dancing, telling secrets, stealing glances, and walking hand in hand.
No dull moments as I had them interacting with each other in sometimes silly feeling ways.

Getting engaged is such an exciting time that honestly doesn’t get romanticized enough. Sure, there’s the exciting newness that comes with that big f word (fiancee) and the whole proposal, of course. So much of the time is sucked up by the anticipation of the big day. The in-between moments can be beautiful and intentional too.
No matter how you are celebrating your engagement, don’t let photos slip under the radar. You are going to want to remember how this feels. Discover more info on your engagement session now!
