Engagement Photoshoot Beach Side

Malu and Eric wanted their engagement photoshoot beach front to commemorate their time in Michigan, so we headed to Grand Haven with their pups in tow. They wanted classic and elegant engagement photos and, you know, what better than sunset on the beach?

Malu and Eric ended up eloping a couple of weeks after this session. They wanted to have really nice engagement portraits before they tied the knot. Going all out, they did a 2 hour session. They wanted both this casual, breezy, in love moment on the beach with their dogs AND a glam, bubbly, romantic look at the pier.

Before the session, I coached the couple on colors to wear to compliment the beach. I didn’t want their outfits to overpower the beach or get lost in it. There is a fine line. They took my advice so well. Their neutrals were perfect to compliment, but not blend in.

Engagement Photos with Dogs

Malu and Eric are a really sweet couple. We had so much fun strolling the beach and their pups were loving it! Their sweet family made this session a breeze. The pups were obviously excited for them and loved being there.

Including pets in your photo sessions is a great way to personalize your photos. Planning for engagement photos with dogs means a little bit of extra foresight. Malu and Eric had their parents with them to hang out with the pups while we worked through the rest of the shoot.

Grand Haven Michigan Engagement Photos

In order to have both the casual, breezy photos on the beach and the beautiful, romantic portraits at golden hour, I needed to time the session with some precision. We got some great shots with the sun still high and Malu and Eric changed as the sun started to sink. Golden hour gave us a rich, luxurious feel.

Perfect for a champagne pop and some sweet, affectionate posing. 🥂

We ended the session gazing at the Michigan sunset. Grand Haven always offers some of the most gorgeous sunsets. This one ended up being a timeless, elegant session on Michigan’s west side. One for the ages.
